A trek in Nepal gives you some of the best photos you will ever take: sunrise on Annapurna, prayer flags at a high pass, tea houses, rhododendron forests and the friends who walked with you. Then the photos sit on your phone. Soouvenir turns them into a printed travel photobook that you design in your browser and we deliver in Kathmandu Valley.
Can I print my trekking photos in Nepal?
Yes. With Soouvenir you can turn your trekking photos into a printed photobook or photo magazine without leaving Nepal. Add photos from your phone or camera, pick a travel layout, and add the names of villages, passes and dates. We print it on good paper, bind it, check it by hand and deliver it to an address in Kathmandu Valley.
Which treks make good photobooks?
Any trek with a beginning, a high point and a way home makes a natural story. Popular Nepal treks for photobooks include:
- Everest Base Camp and the Gokyo Lakes
- Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill
- The Annapurna Circuit, Thorong La and Tilicho Lake
- Langtang Valley and Gosainkunda
- Upper Mustang and the Manaslu Circuit
- Rara Lake in Karnali
How should I organise a trek photobook?
Follow the trail day by day. Start with the jeep or flight out of Kathmandu or Pokhara, give each stage of the trek a spread, make the summit, pass or base camp the centrepiece, and finish with the walk down and the first proper meal back in town. Small captions with the place name, altitude and date turn a photo album into a record of the journey. See designing a travel photobook that tells a story.
Will mountain photos taken on a phone print well?
Yes, if you use the original files. Phone photos of mountains print beautifully, though very bright snow and dark valleys can look different on paper than on a screen. Soouvenir warns you before you order if a photo is too small to print sharply. Read why photos look darker in print and how to photograph the Himalaya on a trek.
Can I make a book with photos from my whole trekking group?
Yes. Ask everyone to share their original photos in one Google Drive folder, then pick the best. Group books work well when everyone gets a copy, and you choose the number of copies when you order.
I'm visiting Nepal. Can I get a photobook before I fly home?
Soouvenir currently delivers to addresses in Kathmandu Valley, and printing and delivery take a few days. If you have a few days in Kathmandu after your trek, you can make your book online and see the delivery date before you pay. If your timing is tight, contact us before you order.
Should I choose landscape, portrait or square?
Landscape suits wide mountain views and long ridgelines. Portrait suits people, tea houses and prayer flags. Square works well for a mix of both. See portrait vs landscape.
